Our mission is to provide a child-centered, mixed age learning experience for children 2 years & 9 months to 5 years of age that engenders creativity and promotes child development & social values through interactive & imaginative play.

It has transformed over the last 40 years from a private grownup run cooperative to a public workerself directed nonprofit. At its core Chickpeas remains a preschool that aims to teach the whole child through curiosity exploration and discovery. Chickpeas is located in the heart of Park Slope Brooklyn and serves families in surrounding areas including Park Slope South Slope Windsor Terrace Greenwood and more.
