Ellen Meloy Fund
This fund will grant an annual stipend to a writer to go out into the desert to write, to give voice to that "deep map of place" that guided and inspired Ellen's work. The goal of the Fund is to enrich writers with the enduring powers of the desert and provide readers with knowledge and passion for desert places.

BLUFF UT The Ellen Meloy Fund for Desert Writers has chosen Debbie Weingarten of Brevard North Carolina as the recipient of the eighteenth annual Desert Writers Award. A grant of 5000 will support work on her book proposal provisionally titled Quitting Season. Our Mission We provide support to writers whose work reflects the spirit and passions embodied in Ellens writing and her commitment to a deep map of place.
