Project CETI is a nonprofit organization applying machine learning and robotics to listen to and translate the communication of whales in Dominica. #ProjectCETI Project CETI (Cetacean Translation Initiative) is a nonprofit organization applying advanced machine learning and state-of-the-art robotics to listen to and translate the communication of sperm whales. Founded in 2020, the organization’s science team is made up of the world's leading artificial intelligence and natural language processing experts, marine biologists, cryptographers, linguists, roboticists and underwater acousticians. CETI’s research is taking place off of the island of Dominica in the Caribbean, with a resident population of sperm whales that have already been shown to have a specific dialect.
