This past weekend, it was truly our privilege to host over 75 Vietnam Veterans and their guests at the Henry A. Wallace Center in Hyde Park for a Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans event. This year, the event held special significance, because it fell on the 50 year anniversary of the departure of the last American troops from Vietnam. We were honored to have Marine Corps Veteran and Purple Heart receipient Corporal Richard Lay as our guest speaker. His powerful words and heartfelt stories reminded us all of the sacrifices made by our brave local Veterans and the importance of honoring their service. It was a day filled with reflection, respect, and gratitude, as we came together to recognize the heroes who served during the Vietnam War and their families. To Vietnam Veterans everywhere, and especially those here in our beloved community, thank you for your service and Welcome Home! A special thank you to all who attended, and to all of our community partners who assisted in making this event such a huge success.
