Champions for Children was established in 2004 by child care teachers who recognize the importance of inclusive preschool settings in child care centers. Early education programs generally do not provide information related to children with special needs and Champions for Children focuses on providing that specialized training and on-going teacher support. This allows families of children with special needs to access child care in quality settings while they work. The inclusive setting not only benefits that child, but all the children, as they become comfortable with differences in children and develop a sense of empathy.
