Families face many challenges in accessing the veterinary care their pets deserve. Yesterday, our Community Outreach Specialist, Cristhian Barrera, had the privilege of representing Emancipet on “Contigo en la Comunidad”, a TV program that highlights topics benefiting the Austin community and the Central Texas area. During the segment, they discussed the free and discounted veterinary services offered through our "Free Days" Mobile Clinic in the Austin area and Travis County (https://emancipet.org/austin-mobile-clinic/) . This program is made possible thanks to funding from the City of Austin Government, Travis County, Texas - Government, and the generous donations of our community. Many thanks to Univision 62 Austin, Claudia Talamantez, and the entire team for allowing us to bring information from our clinics to more households in Central Texas. Thank you to the Hansel Foundation for the $10,000 grant, directly helping Philly pets get the essential veterinary care they need to stay healthy and happy with their families! 💙🩺 Our Chief Development Officer, Jenna, spent the afternoon with CARE (Companions and Animals for Reform and Equity) , Katy Herman with the Hansel Foundation, Charisse Dean, and Emancipet’s Adams Ave team collaborating and dreaming up big ways that we can fuel and expand access to veterinary care in Philly. "A 2025 Hansel Help partner, Emancipet never ceases to impress me. They offer low-cost vet care to tens of thousands of patients every year in PA and Texas — this location alone does 30-35 thousand appointments annually and can do up to 30 spay/neuter surgeries a day. The vets are passionate and procedures actually have lower complication rates than the average for private practices. Emancipet does their best to remove every barrier to great care. They offer walk in appointments with a transparent waitlist system and are a judgement-free zone. No one is turned away or denied necessary services because of an inability to pay. I’m so proud of our decision to give Emancipet a $10,000 Hansel Help grant to be used to subsidize care for dogs in Philadelphia, to help them continue charging more affordable rates for key services like vaccines and spay/neuter.
