Puyallup Valley Japanese American Citizens League

The Puyallup Valley Chapter JACL is a non-profit civil rights organization focusing on Education, Cultural Preservation, and Youth Leadership Development The Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) is a national organization whose mission is to advocate and safeguard the civil and human rights of Asian and Pacific Islander Americans and all communities who are affected by injustice and bigotry. The leaders and members of JACL also work to promote and preserve the heritage and legacy of the Japanese American Community. The Puyallup Valley Chapter is part of the Pacific Northwest District of the JACL. The PV Chapter has a large geographic area from south Seattle to Pierce County. We conduct educational sessions with schools and community groups to educate people about the incarceration of Japanese and Japanese Americans during WWII (75% of whom were American citizens). We advocate for just policies for all people of color and immigrants
