New Mexico Out-of-School Time Network
The mission of the network is to create, strengthen and sustain a statewide system of support for quality afterschool programs. We bring together policymakers, educators, childcare providers, youth development workers, and other stakeholders interested in ensuring positive youth development opportunities and outcomes through afterschool programs. NMOST's mission is to cultivate enriching experiences for children and youth beyond the school day. NMOST's vision is that all children and youth in New Mexico have access to high quality out-of-school time opportunities regardless of zip code and income.

New Mexico Out-of-School Time Network
The New Mexico Out-of-School Time Network (NMOST) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving access to quality out-of-school time (OST) programs for children and youth in New Mexico. Established in 2004, NMOST brings together diverse stakeholders, including policymakers, educators, childcare providers, and youth development workers, to ensure positive youth development opportunities[1][2].
Vision and Mission
NMOST envisions a future where all children and youth in New Mexico have equitable access to high-quality OST programs, regardless of zip code or income[1][2]. Its mission is to create, strengthen, and sustain a statewide system of support for these programs, focusing on ensuring every child can identify at least one caring adult in their lives[1][2].
Programs and Activities
NMOST supports a wide range of OST programs, including before and afterschool activities, summer learning, and youth development initiatives. These programs complement and supplement school-day learning, providing enriching experiences that enhance academic achievement and offer leadership opportunities[3][4]. A significant focus is on STEM education, recognizing the critical role it plays in future career readiness[3].
Partnerships and Governance
NMOST operates through partnerships with public and private organizations and community members. It has established a leadership council to guide the implementation of a statewide strategic plan, which includes improving program quality, public awareness, advocacy, policy development, professional development, and partnership development[1][2].
Impact
NMOST works in conjunction with entities like the New Mexico Public Education Department to leverage grants and resources that support OST programming across the state. These efforts impact local education agencies and community-based organizations, enhancing educational outcomes for underserved populations[4].
