Working to restore a healthy creek that connects people and nature in Durham linktr.ee/ellerbecreeknc ECWA is an urban conservation nonprofit whose mission is to protect and restore the health of the Ellerbe Creek watershed while fostering community access and engagement in environmental stewardship in Durham, NC. Through action rooted in collaboration, we aim to mitigate urbanization's impact on our natural resources and promote equitable access to nature for all. The Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association (ECWA) is a 501c3 land trust and watershed organization in Durham, NC that manages nearly 500 acres of land for conservation, water quality and public enjoyment. Our mission is fueled by a deep commitment to environmental justice, scientific integrity, and community empowerment, as we believe that a thriving watershed is intrinsically connected to the well-being of the community.

Our Vision for the Future ECWAs vision is a living creek connecting human and natural communities in Durham. Through land acquisition collaboration with the city and public education we hope to create a Durham where residents can bike or walk across the watershed and stop at local businesses and nature preserves along the way. LAND PROTECTION ECWA works with local landowners and local and state government agencies to permanently protect land in the Ellerbe Creek Watershed.
