In 1995, a single elephant named Tarra stepped onto 110 acres of Tennessee land and into a new chapter. Barbara and Jenny joined Tarra in 1996, the first three of 34 elephants who would come to find safety, autonomy, and healing at The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee over the next 30 years. Each of these elephants—like Shirley and Jenny, who reunited after decades apart, or Artie and Osh, the first African bulls to call The Sanctuary home—carry a unique story of resilience.
