Manglaralto Giving, Inc.

Manglaralto Giving, Inc. is a U.S. nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the well-being of vulnerable families in the Parroquia of Manglaralto, Ecuador. The organization was incorporated in Indiana in November 2020.

Background

The establishment of Manglaralto Giving was prompted by the challenges faced by the community of Manglaralto during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a coastal tourist area, Manglaralto relies heavily on tourism for economic stability. However, with the onset of lockdowns in 2020, the town experienced a significant decline in visitor numbers, severely impacting local livelihoods. In response, a group of expatriates residing in the area initiated efforts to provide food staples to families in need. This initiative eventually evolved into the formation of Manglaralto Giving.

Mission and Activities

The primary mission of Manglaralto Giving is to support vulnerable families in Manglaralto. The organization works closely with community groups and businesses to achieve this goal. Key activities include managing a food bank and implementing programs to reduce childhood malnutrition. The organization's efforts are designed to address the long-term needs of the community, particularly in areas where economic support is crucial.

Leadership

Manglaralto Giving is led by a diverse group of board members, including:

  • Shawn Turner, President & Programs Administrator: A retired schoolteacher who has been living in Manglaralto since 2016. She continues to contribute to the community by offering free English classes to local children.
  • N Beth Line, Treasurer & Communications Director: With extensive experience in corporate communications and charity management, Line oversees branding and communications for the organization.
  • Milton Josue Muñoz Rodriguez, Board Member: Born and raised in Manglaralto, Rodriguez plays a critical role in navigating Ecuadorian processes and ensuring cultural sensitivity.
  • Kevin Turner, Board Member: Son of Shawn and Bill Turner, Kevin supports the organization's continuity.
  • Mark Sims, Secretary & Website Administrator: An expatriate with a long-term commitment to Manglaralto.
Recognition and Operations

Manglaralto Giving is recognized as a charity by the United States. The organization submits an annual 990-N report to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), ensuring transparency in its financial operations. While not classified as a foundation, Manglaralto Giving relies on donations from individuals and the public to sustain its activities.

Community Engagement

The organization's community engagement is exemplified through its collaborative efforts with local groups and businesses. By fostering partnerships, Manglaralto Giving aims to create sustainable solutions for the area's most pressing needs. The "Nest" program, a key initiative, reflects its commitment to community development.

Imagine a world where diapers are free for struggling families! 🎉 It's time to advocate for change: low-income programs need to include diaper assistance. Diapers shouldn't be a luxury but a basic necessity! Let's support our parents in need! #SupportFamilies #DiaperNeed #PositiveChange

What if diapers were free for the parents who need them most?
