Hamakua Youth Foundation, Inc. (HYF) is a community based organization dedicated to creating a nurturing youth service program for ages 6-18 during non-school hours, engaging youth in environmental sustainability and stewardship, providing Hawaiian culture and arts education, developing youth leadership and connecting youth and their families with social service agencies.Hamakua Youth Center (HYC) provides no-cost after-school programs open daily, during intersessions, occasional weekends and summer breaks to school age kids in Honokaa. HYC continually strives to instill life skills that are guided by traditional values – Kuleana, Aloha, Laulima, & Mahalo. HYC offers safe, adult supervised programs and activities and youth mentoring through homework assistance and leadership training.
