Happy International Day of Living Together in Peace! Our program partners @skateistan asked us: What does peace mean to you, and what does peace look like at BSKA? Here’s what one of our program participants and skate coaches had to say ✌🏽☮️🪷🛹 English translations: In the first video, Hosna (name change to protect child’s privacy) she is saying that she feels at peace when she gets to go to school and do fun things with her sister. That she feels at peace because they have a safe place to sleep together at night and spend time together. At BSKA she feels at peace when everyone is hanging out and skating together and getting to visit different places together. At BSKA she gets the chance to help others if they don’t understand the educational lessons or need help learning how to skate. To her that is what brings her peace. In the second video, Ali, our skate coach and former street-based participant is saying that at BSKA our staff and participants feel a sense of peace when they are able to teach the kids new things and see that the kids are happy and learning new things. They also feel a sense of peace when the kids share their problems with the staff and they are able to help them come up with a solution to their problems together. (fb)
