Coho/US is a national non-profit serving as a connector and clearinghouse to grow and nurture cohousing, an intentional community where households have independent incomes and private lives, and neighbors collaboratively plan and manage community activities and shared spaces. Cohousing cultivates a culture of sharing and caring, with neighborhoods designed for privacy as well as community. Decision making is participatory and often based on consensus. Cohousing communities typically adopt green approaches to living.Coho/US advances cohousing by assisting forming and existing communities through a robust network of resources and access to technical assistance; and educating the public about the benefits of cohousing, from resource conservation and sustainability to resilient communities and healthy families.
