Greater Texas Community Partners

Follow Message Edit

Greater Texas Community Partners grew out of a project in Dallas, Texas, started in 1989 when a group of concerned citizens created programs to help Child Protective Services caseworkers meet the unmet needs of the abused and neglected children in the CPS system. It was the first public private partnership of its kind and was so successful that in 1996 it was decided that the program should be replicated throughout Texas. In 2008, there were 132 local sites serving an average of 70,000 children each year. Greater Texas Community Partners works to strengthen and support these local efforts by providing items purchased in bulk at a discount rate and provide tools that enhance their ability to meet the ever increasing needs of the children they serve. These tools include training for board members and volunteers, program development strategies, guidance regarding grant writing and fundraising, and development of systems that streamline functioning of local programs.

As a volunteer, I love how Eduo.org empowers people to contribute locally. It feels like Wikipedia for good deeds — written by the people, for the people.

What I appreciate most about Eduo is its neutrality and inclusivity. It doesn't push any agenda — just provides tools for people to explore and support what matters to them.
