We were proud to showcase the powerful artwork and thank you cards of students from the Radomyshl Lyceum (Радомишльський Ліцей)in Ukraine, along with pieces from the NGO Pyaternia, at the “Children Pray for Children” event. Through their art, Ukrainian children express a wide range of emotions—grief and pain for their loved ones, but also deep love and gratitude for life itself. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Oleksandra Sienik for leading a wonderful workshop where children painted T-shirts with sunflowers—symbols of Ukrainian resilience and strength. 🇺🇦❤️ (fb)

Children are our future. But russia seeks to rob Ukraine of that future—by abducting our children or, even worse, by killing them to break our nation’s spirit. The heartbreaking facts speak for themselves: 630 children have been killed, around 2,000 injured, and more than 19,500 abducted by russian forces. To restore hope, we gathered today at Ukraine House to pray for the children of Ukraine—for those suffering from brutal russian aggression, for those who were injured or lost, and for those who are still missing. We prayed for their safe return home, to their parents and loved ones. We must continue fighting for every Ukrainian child. We must do everything in our power to ensure they can grow up in peace and under safe skies. Because today, Ukrainian children pray—not for toys or birthdays—but for the rockets to stop, for the air raid sirens to fall silent, for their homes to be rebuilt, for peace to come, for their mothers to stop crying, and for their fathers to return alive. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our speakers for their powerful words and unwavering support: 👉Oksana Markarova, Ambassador of Ukraine to the US 👉Keith Kellogg, United States Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia, 👉His Deputy, John Coale 👉Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa; video address) 👉Caitlin Howarth, Director of Conflict Analysis at the Yale Humanitarian Research Lab 👉Gillian Huebner, Executive Director of the Collaborative on Global Children’s Issues at Georgetown University 👉Jeff Abrams, Director of Rescue Ukraine 👉Marta Fedoriw, UNWLA – Ukrainian National Women’s League of America Thank you to Archbishop Borys Gudziak, Fathers Vasyl Kryshtompol and Robert Hitchens, and Pastor Roman Kapran for leading us in prayer. To the students of Ukrainian School DC - Школа Українознавста, thank you for your moving performance—it touched our hearts and brought many to tears. A special thank-you to the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA Embassy of Ukraine in the USA / Посольство України в США and UNWLA - Ukrainian National Women's League of America, Inc. for organizing this meaningful event, to the Ukrainian community, and to all friends of Ukraine who stood with us today. And finally, our deepest thanks to Irena Chalupa for her thoughtful moderation. (fb)
