@pewcity - Cancer took him—mercilessly and far too soon. There is no comfort in this loss, only the hollow silence left behind where his voice, his deeply-rooted passion, and his light once lived. We had the privilege to meet Tyler at the start of his journey, in January days before Shot Show… a sudden diagnosis of stage IV gastrointestinal / pancreatic cancer… but his care team didn’t know where to begin, they labeled it a metastatic cancer of unknown origin. He was told he had 6-12 months to live and began chemotherapy. Tyler fought with everything he had, but in the end, the disease was relentless. We are left grieving in the shadow of a life extinguished too early, trying to make sense of a world that dared to go on without him. From all of us at HunterSeven, this loss cuts deep. This is the part no one sees. The darkness behind the curtain. The quiet funerals. The late-night phone calls. The warriors who come home from battle, only to find a slower, crueler war growing inside them. We fight for them every day—but sometimes, even that isn’t enough. Tyler was an Army veteran, he was a passionate photographer and found beauty in things many couldn’t… #PewCity Forever ❤️‍🩹🏴 Tyler mentioned time and time again that he had friends, whom he said were closer than family, who helped care for him, covered down on his needs, Joseph Jones thank you for being an amazing human. Last week, the House overwhelmingly passed the Aviator Cancers Examination Study (ACES) Act—H.R. 530 in the 119th Congress—marking a critical step forward in addressing cancer risks faced by military aviators. The ACES Act directs the VA to conduct a comprehensive study on cancer incidence and mortality among aircrew members who served in the Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps. This legislation is especially important for those who have not been recognized or are not eligible under the PACT Act, which largely focuses on toxic exposures like burn pits. Military aviators & aircrew personnel often face unique occupational hazards—prolonged exposure to jet fuels, ionizing radiation, and high-altitude environments—that are not fully understood or acknowledged. The ACES Act fills a crucial gap, aiming to uncover potential service-related cancer links and ensure this overlooked population gets the recognition, research, and care they deserve... most importantly, early identification means increased chances of survival. And, the impact cancer is having on aviators and aircrew personnel is truly troubling... and HunterSeven Foundation co-founder and Vice President, Dr. Sheri Boucher, LtCol. (ret.) can attest to this. After 32 years of military service in both the Army and Air Force, with combat deployments in both the Middle East and Africa, Dr. Boucher was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, thankfully, through our risk assessment and screening programs at HunterSeven, the cancer was identified early. Here is what Dr. Boucher had to say about the ACES Act: "The veterans and medical providers of the HunterSeven Foundation fully support the ACES Act to address the alarming increase in cancer diagnoses and untimely death among many young, otherwise healthy aviators in their 30s and 40s—illnesses typically seen in individuals decades older. We commend and praise Congressman Pfluger, a distinguished Air Force pilot with over 24 years of service and thousands of flight hours, for his leadership exemplifies a deep commitment to addressing the alarming cancer rates among aviators. His dedication to identifying the root causes of these illnesses is pivotal in preventing future cancer cases and safeguarding the health of our nation’s service members.” Next stop: the Senate! About the organization
- H90, W30, G30 -
Prevent and Detect Cancer As a tribe we come together to raise awareness for those that have lost their battle with cancer or are currently fighting cancer. Cancer rates within the military community are on the rise and as an organization that focuses on military exposures we believe that sharing the stories of those impacted can create a culture of change and enhance support for those that are ill. Our why The two decades of conflict has changed the composition of the population seeking medical care within VA facilities and civilian practices. Deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan Syria and Africa have young men and women returning home with multifactorial exposures and a wide array of symptoms.
