The Cathance River Education Alliance (CREA), created in 2000, promotes environmental education and the understanding, enjoyment & protection of the Cathance River watershed by:
* promoting the use of the Cathance River Preserve (CRP) and CREA Ecology Center as teaching tools for area educators;
* assisting educators and students in developing curricula, workshops, classroom activities, & organized field-trips that utilize the CRP as a hands-on educational resource;
* providing educators with training, up-to-date equipment and materials to facilitate their work with students at the Preserve & in the Merrymeeting Bay Watershed;
* developing programs that educate the public about ecology, environmental preservation, & sustainable living;
* overseeing appropriate improvement and management of the CRP and its watershed; &
* establishing working relationships with organizations that generate awareness and support for the preservation of the watershed and CREA's broader educational mission.
