Beware of scammers! Look out for these common scams: 👉 Social Security Scams- In a social security scam, scammers contact you and pretend to be from the Social Security Administration or a law enforcement agency. They tell you that your SSN has been used illegally and in order to resolve the issue, you must send the scammer funds. 👉 IRS Scams- Scammers pretend to be from the IRS and tell you that you owe taxes that must be paid in the form of gift cards to settle the debt, or you will be subject to arrest. This type of scam will increase during the upcoming tax season. 👉 Job Offer Scams- Be cautious of unsolicited job offers. With this scam, you’re offered a job via Craigslist or another online job-hunting website, and they give you funds to send to "payroll" or another third party via Cashier’s Checks, Western Union or Bitcoin. 👉 Romance Scams- Romance scams occur when a criminal adopts a fake online identity to gain a victim’s affection and trust. The scammer then uses the illusion of a romantic or close relationship to manipulate and/or steal from the victim. Scammers may make plans to meet in person, but that will never happen.
