Aidron Duckworth Art Preservation Tr of 1997

"...reaching toward the enigmatic nature of being..." The Aidron Duckworth Museum is located in the village of Meriden, NH. The mission of the ADAM is to preserve and make available to the public the artwork and writings of Aidron Duckworth, as well as to promote the appreciation, practice, and teaching of art in and around New Hampshire and surrounding communities.Since opening in 2002, the ADAM has provided a unique venue for arts exhibition and exploration in the Upper Valley. Since its founding, the museum has preserved the living space, studio space, art, and writings of British-American modernist Aidron Duckworth. There are a minimum of six rotating exhibits each year, which display Duckworth’s work alongside that of carefully selected regional guest artists. In addition, the ADAM offers educational visual arts workshops in conjunction with our exhibitions. These workshops give community members the chance to explore their own creativity through the instruction of artist-teachers, carrying on Duckworth’s own legacy as a teaching artist. Accessibility has always been a fundamental principle of the ADAM. Not only is the museum handicap and wheel-chair accessible, but we do not charge an admission fee, a choice which allows people from all walks of life to take inspiration from the art exhibited at the ADAM. We have also made a conscious decision not to display “easy art”. We instead choose to exhibit pieces that are challenging, though-provoking, and uniquely inspiring. Each exhibition is accompanied by Statements from the Artists as well as excerpts of Aidron Duckworth’s writings. These statements illuminate the paintings, drawings and sculptures, and demand that the viewer look beyond the surface of the work, to an essence that exists beyond aesthetics.
