Thanks to a grant coordinated through Assemblywoman Karen McMahon's office, Main-Transit Fire Department recently purchased two LUCAS Chest Compression Systems. These devices provide consistent, high-quality chest compressions during CPR, allowing first responders to focus on providing ventilations and safely moving the patient to a higher level of care. The LUCAS devices have been placed in service on MTFD's light rescue vehicles, which respond to EMS calls. Special thanks to former EMS Lt. Dylan Warren for jumpstarting this effort, First Assistant Chief Adam Karl for facilitating the grant and purchasing process, and EMS Lt. John Connolly for coordinating training sessions for MTFD first responders.
