Anderson County Schools is providing free meals to all children and teens 18 and under in our 2025 Summer Food Service Program. USDA regulations require that children only receive one breakfast and one lunch per day. For example, If a child receives the Monday non congregate meals packaged together in sacks from the White SFSP Truck that covers breakfast and lunch for Monday and Tuesday they may not receive congregate meals at Emma B. Ward Elementary or from the Red SFSP bus on Monday or Tuesday that week. Names of children may be required from the different locations so we can track meals. No Meal Service on any routes/locations on July 4, 2025 Per USDA Guidelines: Who MAY pick up meals for children: Parents and whatever adult is principally responsible for the care of the child that day, such as grandparents or other adults functioning as childcare providers, can pick up meals on behalf of the children. There must be a caregiver relationship between an adult and child on the day of meal service. Per USDA Guidelines: Who MAY NOT pick up meals for children -Other adults (i.e. proxies) may not pick up meals without the children present. For example, neighbor, friend of family, etc. • Individuals caring for groups of unrelated children formally enrolled in childcare are not considered guardians. • Day care operators, childcare centers, and other day care operators may not collect Program meals on behalf of parents or guardians for children attending their childcare. In the days leading up to this Memorial Day, the Anderson County High School football team did more than practice plays—they showed what it means to be young people of character. Under the leadership of Coach Buchanan, these Bearcats paid their respects to our nation’s fallen heroes by placing American flags on veterans' graves. It’s not just about the game. It’s about gratitude. It’s about recognizing those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we can live, learn, and play in freedom. We are proud of our student-athletes for their reverence, their service, and their example. Thank you, Coach Buchanan, for instilling in your players the importance of honoring those who gave everything. (fb)
