SILENT FILM FESTIVAL

San Francisco Silent Film Festival – The San Francisco Silent Film Festival is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the public about silent film as an art form and as a culturally valuable historical record.

True art transcends time. The San Francisco Silent Film Festival’s mission is to demonstrate the artistry, diversity, and enduring cultural value of silent movies and to ensure that they are accessible to current and future audiences. We accomplish this mission by restoring silent films in partnership with international archives, and by carefully curating live-cinema events —silent films with live musical accompaniment—in the San Francisco Bay Area. Throughout the year, we present a thought-provoking mix of films and educational programs that reflect the breadth and depth of silent-era filmmaking to engage modern audiences, deepening their understanding of the art form and its essential place in cinema history.
