In 1854 Corinth Mississippi was nicknamed the Crossroads of the South because of the two rail lines that intersected at the city39s center making the town one of the most heavily contested transportation hubs throughout the Civil War. How It All Started. The Crossroads Museum features exhibits from the Civil War to famous athletes from the area.
