The Ferry Building shortly after being completed in 1898. The building was designed by A. Page Brown who died shortly after contracts for its construction were let on December 26, 1895. St Francis Hotel 335 Powell Built 1904, 1913, 1972 The architects that were selected to design the St Francis travelled Europe studying other famous hotels in Berlin, Vienna, Monaco, London, and Paris. The St Francis Hotel started designing / planning in 1904. The construction of the north wing started right before the 1906 earthquake and fire. The St Francis Hotel survived with only cosmetic damage. Obviously they rebuilt and the north wing was completed in 1913. In 1972 another tower was added. www.sfcityguides.org (fb)
