About

Assistance League of Fullerton is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization and one of the chapters of the National Assistance League. Founded originally as a guild in 1940, the Fullerton chapter was officially chartered in 1950. The organization is guided by core values of Love of Community, Friendship, Respect, Generosity, Dignity, and Service.

Mission

The mission of Assistance League of Fullerton aligns with that of the National Assistance League, focusing on empowering volunteers to strengthen local communities. It supports a variety of community-based philanthropic programs benefiting individuals from infants to adults.

Programs and Funding

One of the primary funding sources for Assistance League of Fullerton is its Thrift Shop, which is entirely staffed and managed by member volunteers. The organization relies on donations to continue its philanthropic work, which are also tax-deductible.

Impact

With over 240 volunteer members, Assistance League of Fullerton works to improve the quality of life in North Orange County communities, including Fullerton, Buena Park, Placentia, Brea, La Habra, and Yorba Linda. Like other Assistance League chapters, it engages in activities such as providing classroom supplies, clothing, and other essential items to those in need.

History

Assistance League of Fullerton's history is rooted in the broader context of the Assistance League movement, which was initiated by Anne Banning and Ada Edwards Laughlin in 1919. The national organization was formally structured in 1935 and has since grown to include over 120 chapters across the United States.

Community Involvement

The chapter encourages community involvement and offers opportunities for volunteering and making a positive impact in the local area. It aligns with the National Assistance League's vision of becoming a recognized leader in community volunteerism.
