Michigan College Access Programs and Personnel (MI-CAPP)

Michigan College Access Programs and Personnel (MI-CAPP) is a U.S. nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing college access, retention, and graduation for students. Established with the aim of supporting educational goals, MI-CAPP works diligently to ensure that students, particularly those who are underserved, have the resources and opportunities they need to succeed in higher education.

Mission and Objectives

MI-CAPP's primary mission is to foster an environment where students can achieve their full potential by facilitating college access and supporting them through their academic journey. The organization focuses on creating frameworks and resources that help students navigate the educational landscape more effectively.

MI-CAPP is involved in various activities aimed at promoting educational success. This includes scholarships for students who demonstrate academic achievement or growth, particularly those facing personal and environmental challenges. Their programs are designed to support students from high school through postsecondary education, with a focus on low-income, first-generation college students and others who might face barriers to higher education.

MI-CAPP offers several scholarships and awards to support students in their educational pursuits. These include:

  • Endowment Academic Achievement Scholarships: Targeted at students with a weighted cumulative GPA above 3.2, these scholarships recognize academic excellence.
  • Endowment Academic Growth Scholarships: For students with a GPA between 2.00 and 3.199, these scholarships support those overcoming obstacles to achieve academic progress.
  • Study Abroad Awards: Provided to college-level students participating in study abroad programs, these awards support international educational experiences.
  • Veterans' Awards: Supporting college-level students who are veterans.

Partnerships and Collaborations

MI-CAPP is part of a broader network of organizations dedicated to enhancing college access and success. It collaborates with other entities to leverage resources, share best practices, and support systemic changes in education.

Tax Status and Information

MI-CAPP is a tax-exempt organization, having received tax-exempt status in March 2011. Its activities are guided by its mission to support students and enhance their educational pathways.
