The mission of C.I.V.L. is to represent, promote, celebrate, and advocate on behalf of Chicago’s independent performance venues. CIVL SERVES THE PURPOSE OF BRINGING TOGETHER THE COLLECTIVE RESOURCES OF THE INDEPENDENT PRIVATE PERFORMANCE VENUES ACROSS THE CITY OF CHICAGO TO ENSURE THE STABILITY AND SUSTAINABILITY OF SUCH INDEPENDENT VENUS IN THE FACE OF LARGER, WELL-RESOURCED ORGANIZATIONS WHO HAVE MADE IT INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT FOR INDEPENDENT VENUES TO EXIST TO SERVE THE PERFORMERS AND AUDIENCES WHO ARE UNLIKELY TO BE SERVED OTHERWISE. OUR ACTIVITIES AND EXPENDITURES WILL INCLUDE THE COLLECTIVE USE OF RESOURCE TO SECURE PERFORMERS, MARKET EVENTS, AND SHARE THE RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH THE REALITIES OF OPERATING INDEPENDENT, SMALL VENUES IN TODAY'S MARKET, SO THAT WE MAY BETTER SERVE THE COMMUNITIES OF ARTISTS AND THOSE THEY INSPIRE. ALL ACTIVITIES AND EXPENDITURES ARE TO ADVANCE THE INDEPENDENT PRIVATE PERFORMANCE INDUSTRY AS A WHOLE AND NOT TO BENEFIT ANY SOLE MEMBER.

CIVL | Chicago Independent Venue League Advocating on Behalf of Chicagos Independent Performing Arts Venues Music Venues Comedy Clubs Performing Arts Centers Theatres Dance DJ Music Venues Comedy Clubs Performing Arts Centers Theatres Dance DJ Music Venues Comedy Clubs Performing Arts Centers Theatres Dance DJ 500 Million in shutteredvenue relief funding was secured for venuestourism across IL by the CIVL Advocacy team during pandemic. 120000 to 220 artists and venue workers with reduced income when venues closed so we crowdfunded to support them. 305000 calls made to Congress by CIVL stakeholders on behalf of independent venues for our monthly outreach campaign. Zero member venues permanently closed as a result of the COVID19 pandemic.
