Livermore Valley Lithophiles
The Livermore Valley Lithophiles is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization seeking and promoting educational opportunities in Earth Sciences and the Lapidary Arts. Volunteers practice and share their skills in rock and mineral identification and collecting, rock and gemstone carving and jewelry-making, and the science of earth processes. We have various educational outreach programs that involve elementary school classroom lectures and demonstrations, a science fair booth, 4H programs, Scout programs, after-school lapidary skills development, and an annual gem and mineral show that includes child and adult educational resources. We provide matching grants for school resources in earth science education at the elementary school to college levels.
