New York City Ghostbusters, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in New York City, established in 2012. The organization is dedicated to raising funds for local charities while celebrating the beloved Ghostbusters franchise. With a presence in all five boroughs of New York City and extending into parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania, NYC Ghostbusters is recognized as the largest Ghostbusters charity group in the Northeast.

History

Founded by Eric Cudworth and a group of enthusiasts, NYC Ghostbusters originally began as a fan-based cosplay group. Over time, particularly after 2013, the organization evolved into a structured nonprofit with a focus on community engagement and educational outreach. The group's mission is to promote teamwork, creativity, and imagination, especially among children. This is accomplished through various programs that integrate science, arts, and literacy, instilling values such as self-confidence and camaraderie.

In June 2014, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Ghostbusters, the group hosted a free public walking tour of filming locations, which has since become an annual tradition. By 2023, NYC Ghostbusters achieved official status as a 501(c)(3) entity, enhancing its capacity to operate effectively as a charity.

Activities and Fundraising

NYC Ghostbusters engages in a variety of activities meant to entertain the community and raise money for charitable causes. The group participates in events such as:
