TX House is voting on Taxparency bill (HB 195) on TUE. Call or email to your legislator by MON to ask them to support it & let taxpayers know what % of their local taxes is recaptured and sent to the state what % remains in the school district. #taxparency #txed #txlege https://t.co/7qwczlsHO4 (tw)

Taxpayers should know how much of their local tax bill is getting removed by the state through the process of recapture. They should also know how the state chooses to spend those dollars. #txlege #txed https://t.co/9V3Z30Uucd (tw)

About the organization

Committed to sustainable meaningful investments in all Texas students. Quick Facts Recapture also known as Robin Hood is a program enacted by the Texas Legislature in 1993 that allows the state to take local property tax dollars from propertywealthy public school districts to help balance the state budget. In the 202425 school year 219 Texas school districts paid more than 3 Billion to the state of Texas in the form of recapture. An increase in recapture from propertywealthy school districts does not increase school funding but it does reduce the states funding obligation to public education.
