Mission

Ducks Unlimited (DU) focuses on a continental landscape approach to wetland conservation. Its mission is to conserve, restore, and manage these critical ecosystems. The organization was established in 1937 during the Dust Bowl, when hunters noticed wetlands disappearing at alarming rates. Since then, DU has conserved over 19 million acres of habitat across North America.

Conservation Efforts

DU works in all 50 U.S. states, focusing on areas crucial for waterfowl breeding, migration, and wintering. Their conservation methods fall into three main categories:

• Protecting healthy intact wetlands through easements or purchases.
• Enhancing degraded wetlands.
