Long Island Leads Incorporated

We are a group of makers, educators, librarians, museum directors, parents, students, community members, non-profit organizations and companies who believe in hands-on learning for innovation.Long Island LEADS is a nonprofit organization and a founding member of Nation of Makers. It is formed for the educational purpose of promoting the Maker Movement and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) initiatives for kindergarten - 12th grade public school, private school, and homeschool children on Long Island, NY. Through Maker Meetups and the annual SLIME - Students of Long Island Maker Expo, school-community connections support Long Island youth to develop the 21st century skills necessary to become college, career, and life ready.LEARN about new technologies, tools, and toys for hands-on learning, and how to incorporate them into the curriculum.EDUCATE our children to participate in the global community, and to compete in the global community.ADVOCATE for integrated STEAM education for all students.DEVELOP networking opportunities for makers, educators, librarians, museum directors, parents, students, community members, non-profit organizations and companies.SUPPORT relationships among schools, homes, and communities.
