Orton Gillingham Center of Charleston
We exist to transform literacy instruction by training teachers in the Science of Reading, using the OG approach and creating access for teachers and students. Orton-Gillingham is an explicit, multisensory, evidence-based approach regarded as the gold standard for teaching struggling readers and those with dyslexia. OG aligns with the Science of Reading. We envision a world where each teacher is trained so each child can read.

Home 64 of South Carolina fourth graders are BELOW proficient in reading and systemic challenges. We work with elementary teachers in Charleston SC to gain the tools knowledge and skills they need to teach reading effectively. By doing this we ensure that children learn to read during their foundational early school yearswithout requiring external tutoringin order to create a future where no child in South Carolina leaves elementary school without being able to read proficiently.
