A natural burial ground in the Roxbury Highlands, near the northernmost headwater of the White River. This natural burial conservation cemetery is on 56 acres of pristine upland mixed-hardwood forest located in the geographic center of Vermont, on the flanks of the third range of the Green Mountains. Vermont Forest Cemetery provides Vermonters with the option of returning their bodies naturally to the ecosystem, making burial a final act of generosity and gratitude for the land that nurtured them in life.
Natural burial is both environmentally and economically sustainable. We are adjacent to a 91 acre tract of the Roxbury State Forest which helps to defragment and restore the Green Mountain Wildlife Linkage, an important wildlife corridor. Graves are sold with the option to make a tax-deductible donation to either a general fund or an assistance fund to help families with burial costs.
