This is Step One: We are raising funds to help with this initial phase of elephant foot care health. We will have an elephant foot care expert visiting both Ta Klang and Khun Chai Thong villages in Surin Province to assess the elephant's foot care needs. Our expert will be meeting each of GG's elephants in Surin, along with their owners and mahouts, over a few days. She will be assessing the elephants needs in regard to foot health. We will also have a veterinarian attending. Our elephant foot expert will then spend a day(s) presenting information, videos, etc to the group. As well as taking questions and introducing (step two) the upcoming foot care training we would like to offer those interested. Training would greatly benefit the health of our elephants, as well as, offer the owners/mahouts an opportunity at a new career. There are not only our gentle ones, but many in need of foot treatment and maintenance. Protective contact with the elephants will be an important and big piece of the training.
