Groundworks Tucson

Groundworks Tucson is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the youth-driven music and arts community in Tucson, Arizona. Established in 2019 by a group of artists, musicians, and educators, the organization aims to foster creativity and talent among young artists in Tucson.

Mission and Activities

Groundworks Tucson's mission is centered on developing and supporting the creative potential of youth between the ages of 14 and 24. The organization offers a multifaceted space that includes an all-ages music venue, an art gallery, and educational facilities. Activities include live music events every Friday and Saturday night, regular art exhibitions featuring local artists, and educational initiatives such as workshops and equipment sharing programs. History

Groundworks Tucson was founded in 2019 and initially planned to open its physical space in January 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization shifted to virtual programming before securing a new facility and reopening in late 2021. Since its physical reopening, Groundworks has hosted numerous concerts, art exhibitions, and community events, attracting thousands of young patrons and solidifying its role as a vibrant arts hub in Tucson.

Programs and Impact

One of the organization's major annual events is Camp Groundworks, a multi-day music festival and gallery exhibition that serves as a fundraiser for the space. Additionally, Groundworks is home to permanent art installations, including murals, which contribute to its dynamic and immersive environment.

The organization relies on volunteer staff and is funded through grassroots donations and event revenue. Groundworks also accepts donations of musical equipment, art supplies, and other materials necessary for its operations and activities.
