THE ORLANDO/ORANGE COUNTY COMPACT, INC IS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT CORPORATION ORGANIZED & OPERATED EXCLUSIVELY TO PROMOTE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOUTH - ESPECIALLY THE LESS ADVANTAGED - TO BECOME PRODUCTIVE MEMBERS OF SOCIETY AND PART OF THE MAINSTREAM OF THE ORLANDO COMMUNITYCOMPACT was officially launched in April 1989 with  a pilot program of 15 students and 15 volunteer mentors at Jones High School. COMPACT's initial purpose, which it continues to stress, is the successful completion of high school. Our volunteers "mentor" students who are identified as being dropout candidates and our objective is to keep them involved and engaged in school towards high school graduation. Over our 30 years of operation COMPACT has touched the lives of more than 14,000 students. Since inception, COMPACT has evolved to include not only high school students but middle and elementary school students as well.  There is a different objective at each level of education, with the elementary focus being centered on improving of reading skills and at the middle school level, study skills, time management and behavior.
