Parrot Rescue | Santa Barbara Bird Sanctuary | United States

The Santa Barbara Bird Sanctuary, www.sbbird.org, is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of injured, orphaned, abused and abandoned parrots and companion birds. The mission of The Santa Barbara Bird Sanctuary is to provide rescue, refuge and rehabilitation to exotic birds who have been abandoned, neglected, or have been relinquished when owners are no longer able to care for them. We currently shelter and care for 43 exotic birds. The Sanctuary provides homemade, nutritious meals of vegetables, fruits and grains to all of our bird residents, as well as loving care and grooming by our staff and volunteers. The Sanctuary serves Santa Barbara County by offering tours, presentations, educational programs and classes to new and prospective bird owners of all ages.

Only a handful of parrot rescues serve the entire nation and most like ours function beyond capacity with limited funding. Here at the Sanctuary our mission not only mandates quality of health and happiness for the parrots in our care but also emphasizes community outreach and education.
