One of our primary focuses is Community Health Evangelism (CHE.) Patients treated at our hospital can hear the Gospel and return to their closed, animistic villages with testimonies of the love and care they received at the hospital. Pastor Jacob shared the Love of God with family members and patients waiting during our recent vision surgery weekend. While waiting, these community and family members were cared for and provided with food. Due to a long history of abuse by outsiders, starting with the Spanish and continuing to the present day, many Tarahumara villages are closed to outsiders. Our Community Health Evangelist staff are able to enter these closed communities through the relationships we have with former patients and explore the needs of these closed communities. The CHE staff helps community members identify their most pressing needs and help facilitate indigenously derived community improvement solutions, which often do not require outside support. During this process, the CHE staff members share the Gospel and provide discipleship and leadership training to these community members. #communityhealthevangelism #sierramadre #tarahumara (fb)
