CONGRATULATIONS to Vicky for being Snoot's Sub of the Month Pick! Read on to learn about Vicky! R3: What’s your favorite animal at the rescue and why? VICKY: It is impossible for me to pick one favorite animal. They are all so unique. If I have to pick just one it would probably have to be Violet! Opossums always scared me, but once I learned more about them and held baby Violet in my arms, I fell in love. R3: Tell us your favorite rehab intake you've been a part of? VICKY: I have only had the opportunity to witness intakes. It is difficult to see the fear and pain of some of these poor creatures when they arrive but it is also heartwarming to see how much compassion and care is given to them when they need it the most. Each intake reminds me of why we are here. R3: What is your favorite part of being at the rescue? VICKY: My favorite part of volunteering at the rescue is the sense of purpose and fulfillment it gives me. I love knowing that I am making just a small difference in the lives of innocent animals. At the same time, I receive the benefit of gaining a tremendous amount of knowledge and respect for these wonderful creatures we share our planet with. R3: Any advice for someone looking to volunteer? VICKY: Animal care is not glamorous. It is very difficult work. It is both rewarding and heartbreaking. Nature can be difficult to witness sometimes. Research and understand what you’re signing up for. But also understand that the first time you see a successful release, you will be hooked and never look back. Congrats!
