Focus 21 Foundation

Focus 21 Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded by Terrance Berry in 2015. It is dedicated to equipping troubled youth with critical and practical life skills through mentorship, workshops, and community engagement.

Mission and Programs

The foundation's mission is centered around empowering young individuals, particularly those at risk, by fostering self-awareness, social responsibility, and global awareness. Its signature initiative, "The Five Characteristics of a Man," aims to enhance the earning potential and life prospects of boys and young men of color, who are disproportionately challenged across socio-economic backgrounds. This program involves partnerships with high schools in Metro Atlanta to provide motivational workshops and mentoring sessions.

Community Impact

Focus 21 Foundation works closely with community, corporate, and religious leaders to conduct small-group mentoring sessions. These sessions encourage youth to reflect on their strengths and passions, helping them navigate life's challenges and develop healthy relationships. The organization focuses on areas such as self-empowerment, drug and gang prevention, money management, family and friends awareness, and entrepreneurship.

Activities and Reach

During the 2018-2019 school year, Focus 21 Foundation conducted 18 sessions, reaching over 350 youth aged 8-18. A significant portion of these youth came from single-parent homes and faced behavioral issues or gang recruitment challenges. The organization's efforts are designed to support academic excellence, athletic achievement, and personal development.
