Can you name a famous Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander figure? Most Americans can’t. In fact, 42% are unable to name an Asian American when prompted. And when they can, Jackie Chan—who isn’t American—remains the most common response. Even more striking, 54% of Americans can’t name a single NHPI figure.
