In January 2022, St. David’s Foundation set out to explore a bold question: What if trusted community spaces, like libraries, could help bridge one of the most persistent gaps in rural communities – access to mental health support. Ten libraries in Central Texas were selected to participate in the Libraries for Health initiative, a pilot that placed peer mental health specialists and wellness programming within these community spaces.
