Celebrating 19 Days of Black Leadership in Honor of Juneteenth To commemorate Juneteenth, Precinct2gether is proud to uplift the stories of 19 African American leaders whose vision and service have advanced equity and opportunity throughout Harris County. We begin with Algenita Scott Davis, a highly respected attorney, civic leader, and advocate for underserved communities. As President of the National Bar Association in 1990, she championed major reforms and held over 30 leadership roles within the organization. Her work as General Counsel for the Port of Houston Authority and Senior VP at JPMorgan Chase helped channel over $500 million into public infrastructure and housing investments. A native of Houston’s Fifth Ward and a graduate of Howard University Law School, Ms. Davis has chaired numerous boards, revitalized historic communities, and shaped future leaders as a professor at Texas Southern University. Her legacy exemplifies the power of leadership rooted in service and justice.
