
Louisiana Folk Roots, Inc
A non-profit tasked with promoting and preserving the culture and folk arts of Louisiana. We nurture, share and perpetuate Louisiana's traditional cultural expressions with an emphasis on our Cajun and Creole heritage through performances and related educational activities. Our goals are: To provide opportunities for further education about and meaningful participation in Louisiana's folk cultures and their traditional forms of expression. To work with young and old, across generations and cultural and geographic boundaries to increase understanding and appreciation of our state's cultural treasures, in particular our Cajun and Creole heritage. To serve as a resource offering expertise and guidance to masters, apprentices, scholars and others interested in and working in these traditions and related fields. To strengthen and expand the network of people and organizations who support and nurture Louisiana's folk traditions. To produce, sponsor, and conduct educational and community events that demonstrate and celebrate the enduring value and significance of our state's diverse folkways.
