NO SUN? NO PROBLEM! This weekend’s forecast is what rain gear was made for. Hit the trails at Chapman Sanctuary and Visny Woods and you will be in good company with all the critters who come out when it rains. We are located in beautiful Sandwich, New Hampshire at 740 Mt Israel Road. Who doesn’t love the earthy fragrance of a damp spring forest? Add some reptiles, amphibians, bugs and birds and you have a perfect day outside in nature learning about creatures that thrive in or near water. • Peepers and other frogs are out and calling to each other in the woods and around Teacup Lake. •Salamanders, Newts, Efts and Earthworms are on the grounds and you can see them if you watch your steps. Of course all the things that eat the things that springtime brings are active during the damp days too. • Herons, ducks, Kingfishers, muskrats, otters and many other animals are happy to make a meal for themselves during rain shower at the sanctuary. Get ready for some beautiful photo opportunities if the sun peaks out. • The grasses and trees are greening and flowers are blooming all over the sanctuary acreage. • Lovely things are pushing their way up out of the soil. • You might catch a rainbow. • Vapor rising up off Teacup Lake as it warms to a sunny break in the clouds is a pretty sight to see.
