Tecate Horse Rescue
We rescue at-risk horses, mules, donkeys and ponies. Our initial 64 rescues came directly from kill pens in Texas. in 2023 we began responding to local requests for assistance and have since taken in owner surrenders and locally abandoned horses. We rescue, rehabilitate and find forever homes for these equines while also involving them in Equine Assisted Education and Equine Assisted Therapy working with k through 12 children, first responders, veterans, disabled and others who benefit from these programs. Our active community membership also provides instruction and training including trail riding challenges to build better partnerships between new and veteran riders. We also have a hay subsidy program for those horse owners struggling on a short term basis.
