🌿 What’s In The Garden" features the sharp, thoughtful work of NIAD artist Natham Lam — where humor, history, and self-reflection bloom in unexpected ways. “I am a Chinese American writer and visual artist. I am Autistic. I don’t think my Autism is important in my practice yet, but I have thought about how to explore it more. I have nothing to hide. I only speak for myself and my own life experience,” Natham shares in his artist statement. With a style that swings between realism and comics, his art draws inspiration from Old Master Q, New Yorker cartoons, and the internet’s weirder corners. From zines about emotions to stories about a neighborhood cat, Natham’s work pushes boundaries with wit, nuance, and a deep respect for visual storytelling. His recent group exhibitions include those at Sonoma State University Art Gallery, Eddie Rhodes Gallery, and the OMCA. Lam's work was recently acquired by the Graphic Arts Loan Collection at the University of California, Berkeley. Come see how his voice shapes this dynamic exhibition, What’s In The Garden is on view now at NIAD Art Center up until June 20 https://niadart.org/collections/annex-gallery-whats-in-the-garden#:~:text=About%20the%20Exhibition,AAPI%20artists%20practicing%20at%20NIAD.
