May is Foster Care Awareness Month, and as that comes to a close, we wanted to share some staggering statistics with you. 👉Approximately 18,500 youth are emancipated from foster care without a permanent family. 🚫In 2021, 77% of eligible youth in foster care, ages 14–21 years old, left care without receiving the federally funded services necessary to prepare them for adulthood and independent living. At Basin Dream Center, the first few weeks are focused on stability and decompression. Once a resident is ready to take on new opportunities, they can be connected with employment, secondary education, vocational programs, recreational programs, faith organizations and more! Each of these is a space where they can find hope, belonging and purpose. We aim to foster their goals and nurture their dreams as they navigate this time of their life.
